           Broadwater Pagoda Hotel, 112  Melville Parade, Como It was built in the 1922  as a Chinese Tearooms in the Edwardian Oriental style, funded by a Chinese market gardener for a Mr and Mrs Gordon to operate. It was built in response to the popularity of Como Beach, before the Kwinana Freeway went through in 1959 and changed the area irrevocably. The Como

The Como  (1939) Formerly Como Hotel, corner of Canning Highway and South Terrace, Como Architects: Oldham, Boas and Ednie-Browne and built in the Inter War Functionalist style, it is a two story building perfectly situated on a major intersection between Como and South Perth. It has been a meeting place for the community for more than sixty years and was also used during World War Two to accommodate servicemen.

St Columba’s Church

St Columba’s Church (1936 )  25 Forrest St, South Perth Architect: E. le B Henderson . This building is based on a Spanish Mission styled church in Hollywood, California, USA.  A prominent landmark on the hill overlooking the Swan River, the design of the church represents a complete departure from ecclesiastic architecture in Western Australia at that time and is of considerable significance to the City of South Perth and the architectural history of the State.

South Perth Post Office, 59 Angelo Street, South Perth. (1939)

  This 2 storey building of reinforced concrete with red and chocolate covered pressed brick patterned facade. It is set back one course in a herringbone pattern and a soldier brick frieze. It is in the Interwar Stripped Classical style with symmetrical facades, with vertical classical entablature and base. It has a telephone exchange adjoining to the east. A hipped marsailles pattern terracotta tiled roof set behind a parapet. The wrought iron grilles, notable for their design, further enhance the elegant look of the building....

St Mary’s the Virgin Church and Hall

St Mary’s the Virgin Church and Hall (1936) 9 Ridge St , South Perth.     Architect: W.G  Bennett of Eales, Cohen and Bennett ( the same architect and builder as the Raffles Hotel) . The column (1960) and apartments were added much later. Built in the Interwar Skyscraper Gothic style, it has been restored and has an imposing position on the hill.
