Swan Army Barracks West Wing 2 Francis St, Perth, WA, 6000 The red brick, two storey east wing was constructed along the Francis Street boundary of the barracks from 1939-41 and reflects the functional simplicity and military severity in its detail of the ‘modern style’ typical of the late 1930’s. There is a sophisticated use of decorative brickwork on the parapet and over the vehicular entries which lends character to the building. The lovely stylised metal gates are still there.

Clock Tower and the Moon Café (1930) 373 William St at the corner of Newcastle and William Streets, Perth It was the location of the popular dance venue know as the Blue Room Cabaret in the ‘30’s to the 50’s. In the early years it was also a popular venue for thnic socials and weddings and later there was an ice skating rink on the first floor. In the 1950”s it was used as a bus depot by the Midland Bus Company. It reopened in 1991 as a much loved night spot.

38 Roe St, Northbridge WA 6003 1939. In 1903 Du Feu & Co Ltd a metal, tin ware and spouting manufacturers, built a one level natural brick building for use as their factory. In mid 1939, after a fire, architect Mr W. G. Bennett, and builders, Messrs Angell and Clarkit converted the building into the rendered two storeys that we see today. This change in the building allowed the factory to become one of the most up-to-date and modern business in the State, with over 50 employees.
