Originally built in 1905 during the time of economic prosperity following the Gold Boom in the late 1890’s, the present building was constructed in the Art Deco Style in 1937. Designed by Hobbs, Forbes and Partners, involving J.J. Talbot Hobbs who was a leading architect of the time and also one of the most highly decorated soldiers of WWl.
